There is a reason why ancient doctors and natural healers across the world used cannabis for thousands of years to treat and cure their patients.
They saw first-hand the benefits CBD and hemp provided.
In the last 50 years, the modern medicine has started to unravel the truth behind the biological processes of cannabis’ healing powers.
The amount of sheer research on cannabidiol, CBD oil benefits, THC, and other hemp products has grown ten-fold in the past 10 years.
In this health report we will examine the latest medical studies and evidence from real patients and medical doctors with sound advice on treating specific health conditions.
The research of these scientists highlight the importance of the endocannabinoid system, first discovered by Raphael Mechoulam in the 1990s, presenting perhaps one of the most important new breakthroughs about the endogenous chemical transmitters responsible for maintaining health.
Endogenous (which are created naturally inside the body) cannabinoids and their chemical receptors are found not just in the human brain but also in many other organs such as skin, glands and the immune system. The main reason why so many health conditions and diseases are treatable by CBD oil is because our own internal receptors are integral to so many bodily systems and CBD oil targets and treats every single one of them. You can find CBD receptors in every part of your cell.
This is the main reason why CBD oil and other CBD products can be used as a general well-being and preventative medicine, protecting the entire body against diseases, stress and aging.
CBD Works As Preventative Medicine
Since CBD (cannabidiol) and other natural chemical compounds in cannabis and hemp are almost identical to the endogenous chemicals created by our own cells, they are absorbed and used better than most pharmaceutical drugs. This is what Dr Bradley E. Alger PhD, a leading doctor of science in the research of endocannabinoids from Harvard had to say:
“With complex actions in our immune system, nervous system, and virtually all of the body’s organs, the endocannabinoids are literally a bridge between body and mind. By understanding this system, we begin to see a mechanism that could connect brain activity and states of physical health and disease.”
1. Lower Risk of Diabetes and Obesity
A number of studies have shown that regular CBD oil users are thinner, have a lighter weight, and an overall reduced risk for chronic illnesses such as diabetes and obesity. A published report in the American Journal of Epidemiology in 2011 that was based on a survey of more than fifty-two thousand participants, demonstrated that rates of obesity are at least one-third lower among cannabis users. What’s interesting is that the participants tend to consume more food and calories in a day.
Typically cannabis stimulates the production of ghrelin, a hormone that boosts appetite while at the same time increases the metabolism of carbohydrates. The result is weight loss and fat burning thanks to CBD.
It’s been established that insulin encourages the conversion of sugars and simple carbs into stored fat. This causes people to gain fat and become obese.
This is how CBD products can effectively combat weight gain, obesity and type 2 diabetes.
2. Lowered Risk of Heart Disease and Stroke
In an extensive 2013 study that analyzed data from 4,652 patients on the effect of cannabis on metabolism compared non-users to current and former CBD users. It found that current cannabinoid users had higher blood levels of HDL-C or “good cholesterol. An analysis of seven hundred members of Canada’s Inuit tribe found that, regular cannabis users had increased HDL-C levels and lower levels of LDL-C which is bad cholesterol.
Atherosclerosis is linked to a poor diet and lifestyle and is widespread in developed Western countries and can lead to heart attacks or strokes. Atherosclerosis is a chronic inflammatory, autoimmune disease that involves deposits of atherosclerotic plaques and clogged arteries. Numerous studies have shown that cannabinoid (CB2) receptors triple in response to inflammation, allowing anandamide and 2-AG, the body’s natural cannabinoids, to decrease inflammatory damage. The CB2 receptor is also stimulated by cannabinoids.
Studies showed that low-dose oral cannabinoids slowed the progression of atherosclerosis. The following year, medical researchers wrote that cannabinoids have demonstrated to boost the immune system in general as well as treating and reversing atherosclerosis.
3. Lowered Risk of Cancer
As much as I despise animal studies and research for it’s unnecessary cruelty, a 2012 study showed that animals treated with CBD oil were significantly less likely to get colon cancer after being exposed to carcinogens in a lab. Previously, many studies had already demonstrated that THC prevents tumours and shrinks them in size; this is both for benign and hepatic adenoma tumours.
In another important study in 2015, medical researchers analyzed the medical records of over eighty-four thousand male patients in the state of California and found that those who used cannabis, but stayed away from smoking tobacco, had a 45 percent reduced incidence of bladder cancer below the norm. It’s also widely known that topical CBD products can be used to treat and actually prevent many forms of skin cancer.
More research is being done to work out the best ratio for CBD to THC in the treatment and prevention of cancer.
4. Boosts Brain Health
Cannabinoids are known to be neuro-protective, which means they help maintain and regulate health of the brain. This is done by the removal of damaged and sick brain cells and the improved function of mitochondria. CBD and other antioxidants in cannabis also work to minimize glutamate toxicity. Over stimulation in the brain can cause cell damage and cell death. Cannabinoids help protect the brain from damage, thus improving focus and memory.
CBD has an anti-inflammatory effect on the brain.
As the body and the brain ages, the creation of new brain cells decreases. In order to keep the brain healthy and prevent brain damage, new neurons need to be continuously created in the brain. A medical study on brain health in 2008 showed that low doses of CBD and THC cannabinoids promoted the rise of new nerve cells in animal models, and even in aging brains.
CBD is also responsible for preventing other brain diseases like neuropathy and Alzheimer’s disease.
5. Helps With Bone Disease and Broken Bones
CBD has been shown to block an enzyme that destroys and inhibits bone-building compounds in the body, therefore slowing down osteoporosis and osteoarthritis. CBD boosts the process of new bone-cell process, which is why it is very effective at fast tracking the healing of broken bones and cartilage.
It’s been proven that bones are 35–50 percent stronger in those who are treated with CBD than those of non-treated patients.
6. Protects the Skin
Our largest organ, the skin, has the highest concentration of CB2 receptors in the whole body. When CBD oil is applied topically it can heal the skin from UV damage and reduce other damaging effects from the environment. Cannabis-based topical creams, salves and oils are being developed to treat and heal skin conditions such as acne, eczema and psoriasis. It can also speed up healing of injured skin.
Historical data shows that cannabis has been used to heal skin conditions for thousands of years across the world. The application of extracted cannabis and CBD oils treat and heal skin cancer is gaining wide acceptance with a large number of well-documented cases of people curing and reversing both melanoma and carcinoma-type skin cancers with the topical application of CBD oil and THC salves.
One of the most well-known and publicised cases was that of Rick Simpson. He treated and cured his basal cell carcinoma with cannabis oil and now promotes the same treatment for other cancer stricken patients with his line of cannabis products. When cannabis oil is used topically, it is not psychoactive.
7. CBD Oil is Anti-inflammatory
Cannabinoids have potent, anti-inflammatory properties. CBD connects with the endocannabinoid system inside the body, lowering inflammation systemically. This course of action has a wide therapeutic effect, as inflammation is involved in a wide range of illnesses.
8. Reducing Anxiety and Stress
Eating cannabis and CBD oil for anxiety was first recorded in a Vedic text dated back 2000 BCE, and this is the most preferred way to administer this plant as medicine among the ancient cultures. With THC, it can increase anxiety in some people, but lower it in others. With CBD however, its effects have been shown to always reduce anxiety when present in higher amounts. CBD’s stress-reducing effect is related to activity in both the limbic and paralimbic areas of the brain.
A 2012 medical research study analyzed a wide number of studies across the world and came to a conclusion that CBD has been shown to dramatically lower anxiety, and especially social anxiety in patients.
9. Depression and Mood Disorders
Commonly used antidepressants for depression mainly target serotonin, which is a chemical messenger that stabilizes the mood. Endocannabinoid system works in a similar way to serotonin and dopamine, because cannabinoids have a positive effect on the serotonin levels. What’s interesting is that a low dose of THC increases serotonin levels, however, high doses cause a decrease that could worsen the mood.
In a ground breaking study in 2009, researchers established that there was substantial proof that CBD is a viable treatment for depression. Another study in 2016 suggested that “CBD could represent a fast antidepressant drug, via enhancing both serotonergic and glutamate cortical signaling through a 5-HT1A receptor-dependent mechanism.
CBD might especially be effective for depression caused by chronic stress, which has been shown to decrease endocannabinoid levels.
10. Pain Relief
“For the relief of certain kinds of pain, I believe, there is no more useful medicine than Cannabis within our reach,” wrote Sir John Russell Reynolds, neurologist and physician to Queen Victoria back in 1859.
Historically, cannabis was used for pain management in all of the major ancient cultures. Countless medical studies into cannabis over the last several decades have confirmed that this plant is an effective and safe analgesic for many varieties of pain relief.
In fact, the most common use of CBD today is for pain relief. The same can be applied to cannabis in general. The data is staggering, because In the United States, over seventy million people experience chronic pain. Finding the right dosage for CBD is critical.
Cannabinoids can be taken along with opioid medications, and they can reduce the amount of opioid medication needed, lessen tolerance, and reduce the severity of withdrawal symptoms.
11. Insomnia and Sleep Disorders
It appears that for most people, indica strains are more relaxing and useful for sleep, however, sativa strains are more energetic and stimulating as they tend to keep people awake.
A number of medical studies conducted between 2004 and 2008 have shown the variable effects of various cannabinoids on sleep cycle and quality. In one case, 15 mg of THC appeared to have sedative properties, while 15 mg of CBD appeared to have stimulating properties.
“Many of my patients report either better energy or sleepiness on the same high-CBD/low-THC plants,” Dr. Michael Moskowitz reported. “Most, however, feel more energy on high-CBD cannabis.”
As mentioned before, indica strains of THC seem to work best as a relaxant and sleep inducing aid for most patients. However, a large number of people find THC, even indica strains, will make the mind more alert. For these people, CBD oil is more beneficial and will work well, promoting a relaxed feeling and calm for the mind and body. For this scenario, CBD oil taken at night time as part of a bedtime sleep aid produces a deep, restful sleep, not the stimulation and alertness produced during the day. This bidirectional effect of CBD on the body is the result of balancing the endocannabinoid system of the person.
In regards to sleep apnea, a 2002 study proved the ability of THC to restore stable breathing by regulating serotonin signalling and reducing spontaneous breathing disorders during sleep. And later a pharmaceutical drug dronabinol, a synthetic THC version, showed great improvement to treatment after 21 days in 15 out of 17 patients.
If you want to try the miracle CBD oil for yourself, then check out Joy Organics.
When Joy found herself suffering from both issues, she made the choice to research natural solutions. During her search she learned about the benefits of CBD. Unfortunately, she also learned an unpleasant truth about the CBD oil industry: its products rarely work.
CBD isn’t the problem. The problem is an industry that is largely unregulated and full of poorly produced products. After trying seven of the biggest CBD oil brands on the market and only finding relief from one, Joy realized that there was a need.
After learning all this, Joy decided to do something about it. And Joy Organics was born.
Her mission? To help people by creating the most pure, organic and bio-available full spectrum cannabinoid products on the market, all at a price people can afford.
